Title: Integrating Virtual Reality in Higher Education
Immersive virtual reality (iVR) has tremendous potential for experiential learning in higher education. One of the challenges of remote teaching is providing context and hands-on learning. iVR may provide some solutions. Integrating iVR in higher education is not complex, but it requires funding, training and finding the right iVR experiences that can enhance learning and address what might otherwise be dangerous, impossible, impractical or expensive. Rob has integrated iVR for patient simulation, explored iVR for teaching empathy and has used social VR for synchronized online learning. Currently, Rob is the Immersive Technology Lead at Georgian College. He will share his lessons learned and how educators might start to explore iVR as a new medium for teaching and learning.
