SUMMARY:ETC Lunch & Learn Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Title: Integrating Virtual Reality in Higher Education \nImmersive virtual reality (iVR) has tremendous potential for experiential learning in higher education. One of the challenges of remote teaching is providing context and hands-on learning. iVR may provide some solutions. Integrating iVR in higher education is not complex\, but it requires funding\, training and finding the right iVR experiences that can enhance learning and address what might otherwise be dangerous\, impossible\, impractical or expensive. Rob has integrated iVR for patient simulation\, explored iVR for teaching empathy and has used social VR for synchronized online learning. Currently\, Rob is the Immersive Technology Lead at Georgian College. He will share his lessons learned and how educators might start to explore iVR as a new medium for teaching and learning. \n  \nWorkshop Learning Outcomes\nAt the end of this session\, participants will be able to:\n\nDescribe ways in which students can learn in VR\nDiscuss examples of simulation in VR and how this may contribute to experiential learning\nDiscuss examples of learning empathy in VR and its impact on teaching in the affective domain\nList and describe “the six rights of VR integration”\nDescribe the importance of having a sound strategy for VR integration in higher education\n\n  \nClick here to register.

SUMMARY:Alternatives to Placements- Round Table
DESCRIPTION:The pandemic has had an unprecedented impact on Placement. Yet\, with these challenges come unique opportunities to creatively examine alternative ways to meet learning outcomes. This means that faculty may need to rework or rethink their placement course design and outreach strategies and consider alternatives to traditional in-person placements. \nJoin us for a virtual round table discussion on Alternatives to Placements in MS Teams.  \nThis is not an instructional workshop. The purpose is to support faculty who are finding it difficult to develop alternatives to placement in their program. The discussion and brainstorming process may perhaps lead to collaboration between programs on a placement project or WIL. \nWe encourage faculty that have developed new opportunities for their fall 2020 placement course to attend a session and share your experiences with other faculty. If you can’t make it but are willing to share your ideas and resources\, email them to catl@loyalistcollege.com and we will share them with faculty. \nClick here to register through Corsizio \nor  \nClick here to access the discussion through MS Teams directly
